The new Sabor Cubano Festival is a big celebration of Cuban food and culture in Tampa

People at an outdoor festival

A gigantic Cuban celebration from one of the area’s best festival organizers is coming to Tampa this April. Get ready to immerse yourself in the rich flavors, rhythms, and traditions of Cuba at the inaugural Sabor Cubano Fest on Saturday, April 12, at Al Lopez Park from 11 am to 6 pm.

While mouthwatering food and drink is, of course, one of the big draws to Sabor Cubano, this festival is about far more than just food. From music and games to live cigar rolling, dancing and more, the live entertainment and interactive activities will create an immersive and authentic Cuban experience.

Tickets are on sale now, with General Admission tickets only $7 per person. Children 12 and under get into Sabor Cubano Fest for free.

Experience authentic Cuban food and dance

Sabor Cubano Fest will provide a veritable feast of food and drink for attendees. Showcasing Tampa’s Cuban history and roots, local chefs and food trucks will be on hand dishing up all your authentic favorites, including classic roast pork, rice and black beans, yuca, croquetas, sweet pastries and much more. And those 21+ can sip on freshly muddled mojitos at the Mojito Bar, offering perfect refreshment for the afternoon of fun, food and sunshine.

Meanwhile, Sabor Cubano Fest has a jam-packed entertainment lineup, with energetic Cuban music and dance performances taking place throughout the entirety of the festival. One of the highlights is certain to be the showcase of Rueda de Casino, a vibrant and interactive Cuban dance style that originated in the 1950s in Havana’s “casinos,” or social dance clubs. This dynamic form of salsa is danced in a circle, with partners switching in sync to the calls of a leader—an exciting and social experience that brings people together through movement and rhythm.

Want to take a break from eating and dancing? More festivities include a Domino Tournament open to the public, proudly presented by Jessica C. Fernandez, Personal Injury Attorney. Plus, guests will also get a taste of Tampa’s historic cigar-making legacy with live cigar rollers, honoring the tradition that put Ybor City on the map as the “Cigar Capital of the World.”

Eat, drink and dance for a good cause

Sabor Cubano Fest is organized by United Citizens Coalition, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to honoring Latin culture through festivals. They have become stars in the area for the annual Tampa Taco Fest – Tampa Bay’s largest taco festival – and Parrandón Fest, a festive Puerto Rican Christmas celebration.

Sabor Cubano Fest is made possible thanks to incredible community partners Hillsborough County, GTE Financial, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Florida Blue, and Jessica C. Fernandez, Personal Injury Attorney.

Sabor Cubano Fest takes place on Saturday, April 12, from 11 am – 6 pm at Al Lopez Park (4810 N Himes Ave). Tickets are available here.
