Two of Florida’s most anticipated retail debuts this year are H Mart and Buc-ee’s (set to be the largest in the country). A “coming soon” sign went up outside Orlando’s future H Mart at 7501 W. Colonial Dr. in July 2024. After a long wait, the store is finally open. The Orlando shop drew massive crowds with folks from across Florida (including Tampa and St. Pete) making the trek to see what all the hype was about.

Popular vendors in the Orlando store’s food hall include Oh K-Dog & Egg Toast, Myung Ga (Korean BBQ & Tofu Soup), Jaws Topokki (Korean street food), U Chun (Korean cold noodles), Chidon (Japanese fried cutlet), and Paik’s Noodles (Korean/Chinese cuisine). Visitors will also find Paris Baguette inside the massive store.

Closer to home, H Mart appears to be planning a Tampa location at 3908 W. Hillsborough Ave. A building permit has been issued for the site, though construction and opening timelines are still to be announced.

H Mart, the largest Asian supermarket chain, opening in Florida

H Mart, the largest Asian supermarket chain in the U.S., has grown from a single store in Woodside, Queens, in 1982 to more than 97 locations nationwide. Known for its wide selection of Asian foods alongside Western groceries, H Mart provides a full-scale shopping experience that rivals traditional supermarkets. Its food halls—an extension of 30 years of in-store eateries—further enhance its appeal as a premier destination for groceries and dining.

Recognized for its rapid growth, the chain ranks 13th on the National Retail Federation’s HOT 100 Retailers list and is included in Supermarket News’ Top 50 Small Chains and Independents in the U.S. and Canada. It remains a favorite destination for shoppers seeking high-quality Asian and Western products under one roof.

Meanwhile, Tampa residents recently got a taste of another major Asian grocery chain: Lotte Market, now open at 17605 Bruce B. Downs Blvd.
