Gyros and chicken pitas are on the menu at Armature Works’ new restaurant

I love a good gyro. It’s one of the ultimate grab-and-go comfort foods, and it’s one of the signature items at Kipo’s, the newest vendor inside Heights Public Market at Armature Works.

The vendor stall located in the Northern end of the Heights Public Market, formerly home to Cress, now serves fresh Mediterranean fare including hand carved gyros and chicken pitas, scratch made hummus and tzatziki, Greek salads, imported Greek sodas, and more. The Greek sodas are a must try.

Kipos, meaning “Garden” in Greek, is the latest endeavour from BE1 Concepts, the driving forces behind Steelbach, Butcher N’ BBQ, Stone’s Throw, and M.Bird all within Armature Works. BE1 Concepts Director of Culinary, Chef Matt Mangone, has created a menu of classic Mediterranean street food; the first of its kind within the Heights Public Market.

“The concept is heavily inspired by, and a nod to, Tarpon Springs, FL and the legacy of the Greek settlers plus the cuisine they brought to the area,” said Chef Matt Mangone, “We are excited to offer a new style of cuisine to the Heights Public Market that hasn’t been done before.”

At a time when we’re more prone to getting delivery or takeout, a concept like Kipo’s is clutch. It’s equal parts gourmet and quick, with dishes that travel well, but can easily be enjoyed outside in Armature’s expansive lawn.
