Top-notch empanadas have arrived at Sparkman Wharf. Chef Ferrell Alvarez announced that Gordito’s is now open at Sparkman Wharf, joining fellow Proper House Group restaurant Dang Dude at the waterfront food plaza.
Gordito’s specializes in empanadas and shaved ice. Even if it’s technically fall/winter in Tampa, you’re guaranteed to need something cool and refreshing at least once a day.

Empanada varieties include mojo pork, beef & mozzarella, spinach & cheese, guava & cream cheese, and regular chicken and beef. Tasty dipping sauces include charred jalapeno ranch, chimichurri, cumin crema, and mango chutney.
The incredible shaved ice flavors range from mango and strawberries and cream to coconut Thai tea boba and passion fruit bursting boba.
Gordito’s sneak preview began on November 8, and an official grand opening is set for next week. Sparkman Wharf is located at 615 Channelside Drive. Gordito’s joins the other recent addition to the plaza, Everglazed Donuts and Chicken.
