Tampa’s newest cruise offering is going to the dogs—literally! Cruise Tails and Expedia Cruises of West Orlando have teamed up to launch the first-ever dog-friendly cruise from Port Tampa Bay. Set to sail in November 2025, this one-of-a-kind voyage invites 250 dogs and their owners aboard Margaritaville at Sea’s flagship vessel, The Islander.
Themed events and activities make this a dream trip for dog lovers. Guests can enjoy dog shows, training sessions, costume contests, parades, and exclusive gifts from top pet brands. Each family will have access to a dedicated Pet Butler for cabin cleanliness, while pups can take advantage of private balcony relief stations. To ensure safety, all dogs must meet health requirements, including updated vaccinations and vet-approved health certificates.

Steve Matzke of Cruise Tails shared his vision: “I consider my Yorkie, Louis, part of my family. For years, I skipped family cruises because I wouldn’t travel without him. I want to change that for dog lovers like me.”
While pets enjoy grooming sessions, splash zones, and even puppy massages, their humans can explore dog-free spaces. From the Margaritaville Casino and live entertainment to island-inspired dining and spa treatments, there’s no shortage of fun for everyone.
Applications for this trailblazing cruise open soon. Dog owners dreaming of a vacation with their furry companions won’t want to miss this paws-itively perfect getaway.v
