Chubby’s, a celebrated sandwich shop near Ballast Point Park (5023 Bayshore Boulevard) in Tampa, announced that it will close after July 30. The announcement was made on Facebook on June 22. The owners wrote the following:
“Good Day Everyone. It is with heavy heart that I announce the closing of Chubby’s Super Subs & Pizza. Friday June 30th will be Chubby’s last day. A staple of Ballast point for over 40 years, it will be sad to see it go. We invite you to stop by anytime in the next 8 days to share any stories you might have about Chubbys, we would love to hear them. We will miss all of our customers, best part of the job. Come say goodbye to Chubbys and get your final Bomb on!”

The deli was famous for its steak bomb sandwiches. This delicacy features salami and steak, cheese and onions, and mushrooms on a fresh roll. Owners Christi O’Malley and Mike Dickinson have been cranking sandwiches and top notch pizzas for residents and visitors alike. Get your steak bomb before they close next week.
