The Tampa Bay Business Journal recently broke the news that Bob Basham, co-founder of Outback Steakhouse, and acclaimed Chef Chris Ponte, known for his popular Tampa Bay restaurants Olivia, On Swann, and Ponte Modern American, are teaming up once again to bring a new dining experience to Rattlesnake Point (right next door to Salt Shack on the Bay). The pair plan to open an 8,000-square-foot restaurant next to Salt Shack on the Bay, adding a fresh culinary destination to the area, according to TBBJ.

The new venture is being developed on land leased from MAA, the apartment developer behind the 495-unit MAA Breakwater complex, which surrounds the waterfront property where the restaurant will be constructed.

Basham and Ponte have previously teamed up on Bare Naked Kitchen. This waterfront gem will be something entirely new. The owners told the Tampa Bay Business Journal that the menu will feature coastal fare with seating for over 300 guests, and is projected to create between 100 to 150 jobs.

We’ll update this story as more details become available. Visit Chef Ponte’s other Tampa establishments:

  • Oliva, 3601 W Swann Avenue
  • Ponte Modern American, 1010 Gramercy Lane
  • On Swann, 1501 W Swann Ave
  • Bare Naked Kitchen, 3915 Henderson Blvd

Ponte is also opening a new Olivia restaurant in downtown St. Pete.
