Clearwater Marine Aquarium (CMA) is hosting three 8-week-old capybaras in its new Capybara Chillout event, in partnership with Amazing Animals, Inc. The event runs through July 7, allowing visitors to welcome these adorable newcomers to their habitat daily from 11pm to 5pm.
Originally hailing from Central and South America, capybaras thrive in marshy areas where they swim and consume ample vegetation. These highly social mammals face threats from human activities, including deforestation, habitat destruction, and illegal poaching. The presence of capybaras at CMA will provide guests with a unique opportunity to interact with and learn about these fascinating animals, aligning with the aquarium’s educational outreach and conservation initiatives.
