BEETLEJUICE, an acclaimed musical based on Tim Burton’s classic 1988 film, comes to Straz Center (1010 N MacInnes Pl) in Tampa October 24-29. Presale tickets are available with code SANDWORM. It’s a big Broadway experience on the gorgeous Morsani Hall stage.
This hilarious musical tells the story of Lydia Deetz, a strange and unusual teenager whose whole life changes when she meets a recently deceased couple and a demon with a thing for stripes. With an irreverent book, an astonishing set and a score that’s out of this Netherworld, BEETLEJUICE is “SCREAMINGLY GOOD FUN!” (Variety). And under its uproarious surface (six feet under, to be exact), it’s a remarkably touching show about family, love and making the most of every day-O!
The piece, with music and lyrics by Eddie Perfect and a book by Scott Brown and Anthony King, opened on Broadway in April 2019. It has continued to be a major hit throughout its tenure and national tour, and captivates audience members of all ages with its subversive comedy, and fourth wall-breaking moments.
“If you’re looking for hours of escapist fun and spellbinding special effects, BEETLEJUICE is the show to see,” according to theatre critic Fosse Thornton. “Closer to a rock concert than a traditional musical, the audience follows a demon called Beetlejuice as he hatches a scheme to use a naïve pair of married suburbanites to advance his quest to rise from the dead.”
Tickets can be purchased on the Straz Center’s website. A whole host of amazing shows are also on the horizon, and you can see Straz Center’s full schedule here.
Content warning from Straz Center: Contains strong language, mature references, and a lot of the crazy, inappropriate stuff you would expect from a deranged demon.
