This must-see experience in the Warehouse Arts District of St. Petersburg is a wonderland of color and creativity. FloridaRAMA, which officially debuted its new and re-branded look this summer, is one of the coolest arts experiences anywhere, and likely the most immersive you can find in the Tampa Bay region.
Showcasing the work of more than 75 local and international artists, FloridaRAMA is as if Willy Wonka’s factory specialized in experiential art instead of chocolate waterfalls. The sprawling complex is “a world where creativity and technology merge to celebrate weird, wacky and wonderful Florida.”
Formerly known as Fairgrounds St. Pete, FloridaRAMA is located at 2606 Fairfield Ave S. in St. Pete, and it is more than worth the trip over the bridge to spend a day exploring the immersive world of artistic endeavors they have created. There are playful exhibits celebrating Florida’s stories and history; mysterious scavenger hunts buried within the intertwined narrative; a free art gallery showcasing local artists; and even even refreshments for before or after your FloridaRAMA experience.
Step into a wild world of art and Florida fun
The highlight, of course, is the world you step into (the spellbinding entrance is enough to enchant even the stodgiest of souls), a visual playground of sights, sounds, and even smells. It’s a chance to experience art across all mediums, some unexpected, as you travel from room to room and exhibit to exhibit, witnessing a collaboration of video, sound, light, sculpture and painting.
However, it isn’t just the art itself that has made FloridaRAMA a quick favorite among the community. In addition to the immersive art experience, FloridaRAMA has a robust calendar of free and ticketed events, as well as rotating galleries and special performances.
On Thursday, November 7, for example, FloridaRAMA hosts the unveiling of “Cosmic Dreams & Sunshine Beams,” an 8-wall retro-futuristic mural by Tampa native Ashley Cantero. Tickets are available here for what will be a wild and colorful experience. We also highly recommend checking out “Weird in St. Pete,” an interactive theatre experience put on by St. Pete’s American Stage and taking place within FloridaRAMA later this month.
Additionally, the venue offers rental spaces for various events, making it a versatile location for both leisure and business.
FloridaRAMA offers general admission for $27, with a discounted rate of $25 for Florida residents. There are also group discounts and specific ticket deals available, making it easier for everyone to experience the magic of FloridaRAMA. All tickets and experiences can be reserved in advance online.
