The iconic brick streets of Ybor City will soon see a revival with a project on 7th Avenue. The project’s first phase will occur between 15th and 16th Streets. Set to begin in July, the construction will result in the temporary closure of this block, marking the first phase of a broader initiative to restore the historic character of the area.

Construction is anticipated to take six weeks to complete. This effort is part of a long-term plan to reintroduce brick streets to 14 blocks of 7th Avenue, with the city aiming to tackle one block per year, according to a report by Fox 13 Tampa Bay. Funding for this project will come from property tax revenue collected within Ybor City.

Support local Ybor City businesses this summer

As construction gets underway, residents and visitors are encouraged to visit Ybor City to support and celebrate their favorite local businesses in one of Tampa’s most vibrant neighborhoods. A few of our favorites include The Attic Cafe, Trellis, Barterhouse, Blind Tiger, Wicked Sweet Sugar Boutique, The Columbia, Ybor Saturday Market, Cheeseology, The Spookeasy Lounge, Flan Factory, La Setima, Jimmy’s Tacos, and so many more.

Ybor is also home to beloved music venues such as 1920 Ybor, and Crowbar, and cultural gems such as the Screen Door Microncimema, and the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts. Don’t forget that Ybor is easily accessible courtesy of our free Streetcar system.
