There’s a whole lot of donut news going around in Tampa. The Salty Donut announced plans to open locations in the city earlier the summer, and now their intentions are clearer with the confirmation of locations coming to Hyde Park Village, and Seminole Heights. The news was first reported by the Tampa Bay Business Journal, and later confirmed in a Facebook post by The Salty Donut.
Here’s the announcement from The Salty Donut: “THE RUMORS ARE TRUE TAMPA HERE WE COME Y’all have been asking for us since day 1 and now it’s finally time we jump to the west coast of our home state to open in Tampa! We’re heading to town with a one-two punch, opening locations in both Hyde Park Village and Seminole Heights!”

The team behind Hyde Park Village also joined in celebrating the announcement. “sweet news for you@thesaltydonut, miami’s first and favorite artisanal donut shop, is coming soon to the village the salty has been nationally recognized & named one of the best donut shops in america by @thrillist, @foodandwine & @tastingtable“
Tampa gains two Salty Donut locations
In addition to delicious donuts, the shop menu also includes a vegan cinnamon roll donut, and a gluten-free sea salt and chocolate chip donut. The entire concept began way back in 2014. Before there was a brick-and-mortar, owners Amanda Pizarro and Andy Rodriguez were renting space in a commissary kitchen and popping up at Miami events in a 1950’s vintage aljoa camper. The pair had then, and maintains today a fierce passion for a damn. fine donut.
The pair dreamed of a community gathering place “centered around donuts, coffee, and good vibes. A place you could have a first date, celebrate a birthday, or cheer you up after a long day.” The team is set to open its first ever Tampa location at 1519 W. Swann Avenue in Hyde Park Village.
The Salty Donut news follows another celebrate donut chain coming to the Tampa Bay region. Shipley Do-Nuts is also coming soon to the area. Mochinut, a mochi donut restaurant that also serves Korean fried corndogs, also just debuted in Temple Terrace.
Nicola’s, an old school Tampa institution, just expanded with a second location to enjoy their award-winning donuts, too.
