The popular Texas-based Whataburger has plans to open in Tampa, according to a report by Tampa Bay Business Journal. The official address is TBA, but officials plan to make the big announcement during a food truck event in Lykes Gaslight Park (400 N Franklin St) this morning, August 9, at 11am.
The first 150 hungry guests to show up at the food truck event will get free burgers and fries according to the press release. This new location should open sometime in 2026, with more plans to be revealed in 2025.

Whataburger serves made-to-order meals in a casual atmosphere, writes the company. Since its founding in 1950 by Harmon Dobson, the company has grown from its San Antonio headquarters to over 1,000 locations across 15 states, generating over $3 billion in annual sales.
