USF Men’s Basketball team is on fire right now, and the city is running with this Bulls squad. 10,659 fans packed Yuengling Center for a sold-out game against the ranked Florida Atlantic Owls. The Bulls, donning neon green Jerseys, took the top 25 ranked squad to its limit and pulled out the upset victory at home. This major triumph was streamed live on ESPN. Do we have your attention now?
They’re currently ranked first in the American Athletic Conference and are enjoying a 11 game winning streak. USF’s coach/fearless leader Amir Abdur-Rahim was recognized as Coach of the Week by ESPN’s Jeff Borzello. Abdur-Rahim has effectively turned around a program that was sitting at just 14-18 last season, and the program itself is more than 10 years removed from its last trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Throughout the game, aerial videos of Tampa, St. Pete, and the greater Tampa Bay area were shown to the massive ESPN audience. Not only is this a major victory for the team, but it’s a huge win for the Tampa area.
With the win, South Florida improved to 19-5 overall and 12-1 in the AAC, while Florida Atlantic fell to 20-6 overall and 10-3 in league games. The attendance of 10,659 set a program record for attendance, beating the previous mark of 10,444 against Florida on December 8, 2001.
The Yuengling Center is located at 12499 USF Bull Run Drive. Visit USF Athletics’ official website for updates on all USF sports, schedules, and tickets. See the full men’s basketball schedule here.
