For the past few years, Tampa International Airport and airlines flying out of the hub have worked exhaustively to better connect the city to the tech hub that is California. The airport made major waves when they landed nonstop flights to San Francisco with United Airlines.
Beginning January 8, 2018, Southwest Airlines will provide nonstop service between San Diego Airport and TPA. The once daily flights will offer the roughly 150 passengers who fly between the two cities daily a more convenient means travel.

This complements the flurry of nonstop routes the airport continues to land:
In recent months it’s also been ranked as the 2nd best airport in the U.S., and has hosted multiple jobs fairs filling nearly 600 positions at their brand new restaurants, bars and retail shops.
