One of the best new restaurants in the south is right in Water Street Tampa: Predalina. This Michelin-recognized Mediterranean hotspot was created by sibling co-owners Blake Casper and Allison Adams as a tribute to their great-grandmother, Predalina Oliviera. Oliviera, who was born in Brazil, raised in Portugal, settled in Rhode Island, and lived to 101 years old, inspired the restaurant’s high-energy, seafood-driven atmosphere, reflecting her love of seaside life.
Showcasing fresh Mediterranean and Aegean dishes, the restaurant has become a favorite among diners, according to General Manager Mark Hoefer. Highlights from Executive Chef Billy Zeko include the flaming Salt-Crusted Branzino, filleted tableside, Blue Crab Chitarra pasta, and Potato Stroma with Greek kefalograviera, a hard sheep or goat’s milk cheese that’s “to die for.”

Predalina also features an in-house retail section featuring a shoppable dining experience, as well as handcrafted wares, unique home décor, and special gifts. Follow Predalina on Instagram for more info on the restaurant.
Predalina was one of just 24 restaurants to make the list. To create the list, Yelp editors identified full-service businesses in the restaurant category, which opened after January 31, 2023, then ranked those spots using a number of factors including the total volume and ratings of reviews between January 31, 2023, and May 1, 2024. All businesses were listed open on Yelp as of May 1, 2024. When available, all businesses on the list have a passing health score as of May 1, 2024. Finally, they consulted with their Community Managers to zero in on which spots Yelpers were loving.
