Hyde Park Preservation Inc. (HPPI) has announced the return of the 2024 Old Hyde Park Home Tour, scheduled for Saturday, December 7, from 10 am to 1 pm. Architecture and design enthusiasts are invited to explore some of Hyde Park’s most captivating historic homes, complete with refreshments, live music, and surprises along the route. Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 on the day, available at Hyde Park Tour. Check-in and ticket pickup will be at 726 S. Oregon the day of the event.
Hyde Park, dating back to the 1880s, began when railroad magnate Henry Plant connected the area to downtown Tampa by building a bridge over the Hillsborough River. The neighborhood quickly grew, known for its distinct Georgian mansions, Craftsman bungalows, and half-timbered houses. In the 1980s, Hyde Park earned historic district status, preserving its architectural charm for future generations.

HPPI President Carren Rieger Friess expressed her enthusiasm: “We’re thrilled to bring back the Home Tour! This year’s tour highlights a variety of architectural styles and will raise crucial funds for tree canopy restoration and storm-damaged historic signage.”
This year’s event is supported by Tampa General Hospital and ZooTampa at Lowry Park, whose community commitment aligns with HPPI’s mission to preserve one of Tampa’s most historic neighborhoods.
