One of the best things about Tampa sunshine is that it’s always ice cream weather. OddFellows Ice Cream Co. is the newest resident of Hyde Park Village, and the small-batch ice cream shop is already a hit with its rotating list of strange and inventive flavors.
Inside the bright, colorful and airy parlor, guests can select from more than two dozen different ice creams, including vegan options and even a couple sorbets (the strawberry basil lemonade sorbet is calling our names). OddFellows has expected standards like vanilla bean, chocolate chunk and cookies cream, but it’s in their “wacky and weird’ ice cream that the concept truly shines.

Flavors like Peanut Butter + Jelly, Italian Cookie Crumble and Matcha Passionfruit Coconut are just a few of the nearly 20 permanent options available. Meanwhile, the constantly rotating “Today’s Flavors” list truly brings the wacky – and tasty – to the table. On our visit we tried Olive Oil Jelly Donut, Cheddar Apple Pie, Chocotorta, Cherry Cheesecake and the delectable Miso Peanut Butter Brownie.
Ice cream flights make it easy to try more flavors
Trying out samples is encouraged, and certainly understandable when taking a chance on some of their unique creations. And if you really can’t decide, one of their best options is a $10 ice cream flight that lets you get small portions of six different flavors. Of course, cups, cones and even floats provide plenty of vehicles to get the ice cream from scoop to stomach, as well.
OddFellows opened its first shop in Brooklyn in 2013, and the boutique ice cream parlor has since opened a handful of locations in NYC. This is its first foray into Florida, choosing to open late 2021 in Tampa.
OddFellows describes itself as “a small-batch ice cream company with a compulsive creativity problem. We have concocted more than 500 wacky and weird flavors alongside reimagined and improved classics. Our ice cream is like driving 31 in a 25, honking the horn the entire time.”
