Restaurant owner Ryan O’Shea is the mad genius behind excelsior sammies. The sandwiches, and the restaurant itself are an absolute feast for the eyes. Yes, Marlene’s breakfast sandwiches are exactly as good as they look.

The name is inspired by O’Shea’s mother, who herself was something of a breakfast sandwich pioneer. These stacked, savory towers are made with love, and an expert flavor palette. While they specialize in breakfast sandwiches, the team has teased that brisket is on the way.

Marlene’s opened just a few years ago, but it already feels like a sunrise staple in the Tampa community. One look at its menu, and you can see exactly why.

It seems The Cuban spacial was made for the city of Tampa. This pressed sandwich is served on a Cuban baguette, with a double fried egg, smoked kielbasa, gouda cheese, chives and cilantro, and spicy mayo.
