The Tampa Bay Asian Foodies Group is one of the best Facebook communities in my opinion. Those in the group are passionate about local restaurants, and provide honest, thoughtful feedback on their experiences. Users also help build up hype for soon-to-open, or recently debuted destinations. The latest arrival in Tampa, Grand Fortune Dim Sum, has been on the TBAF Group’s radar for quite some time. It’s located next door to MD Oriental Market at 1104 E Fowler Ave Unit 102. Thanks to group member Mainard Dinglasan for allowing us to use their photos in this feature.
Dim sum is a traditional Chinese meal made up of small plates of dumplings and other snack dishes and is usually accompanied by tea. Staff have robust carts they roll around the restaurant for those interested in partaking in the experience.

“Very crowded so expect some waiting but the food is definitely worth the wait. It’s the best dim sum I’ve had in Tampa,” writes Christine C in a 5-star review of the restaurant. “Delicious Dim Sum and service was shockingly fantastic despite the business of the restaurant,” Paola K. writes in her own 5-star review.
Praised dishes include the salt pepper eggplant, fried shrimp balls, Xiao long Bao, snowy durian, short rib and soup dumplings, and crab meat crispy fried rice.
This restaurant has a rather extravagant look. It offers banquet style seating, with a large stage for karaoke with a bright screen behind it. This is a spot we haven’t had the pleasure of trying for ourselves just yet, but it’s now firmly on our radar.
Visit the website to see a full menu. Some reviews have noted that due to the crowds, wait times can be long. Initial visitors also noted that there were only two dim sum carts when they visited. According to reviews, this restaurant is a bit pricier – but many say that it’s worth the splurge.
