Gold’s Gym, the iconic fitness brand founded in 1965 by Joe Gold, is joining the Gas Worx development in Tampa with a 25,000-square-foot facility (802 N 12th St). Kimberlee Curtis, a local Tampa resident and her business partners, will be opening Gold’s Gym later this year. This new facility, located in a Flatiron building, will offer top-quality equipment and facilities that make the gym an internationally known fitness brand. The building, owned by local developer Darryl Shaw, is undergoing a renovation to create a state-of-the-art strength training gym with indoor/outdoor training spaces, much like the brand’s Venice Beach flagship location.
Gold’s Gym Tampa will be more than just a place to work out. It will help create a vibrant and inclusive urban community. According to Darryl Shaw, “With Kimberlee’s visionary leadership, this gym is about the health and well-being of the entire community.” Curtis added, “We are introducing innovative equipment and amenities at this facility that Tampa hasn’t seen in a gym before. We are excited for our members to work out, hang out, and have a great time!”
Gold’s Gym bringing state of the art equipment to Tampa
The gym will feature German-engineered and built equipment by Gym80, specialty equipment rooms, a posing studio, a smoothie bar, a pro shop, personal training, luxury locker rooms, and an upgraded membership option for use of a private lounge/co-working space. With everything members need to achieve their fitness goals and the option to work and socialize in the member lounge, this Gold’s is a one-stop-shop for fitness, wellness, and productivity.
Greg Nigro, from Gym80, said, “Kimberlee is creating something truly exceptional in Tampa, and I’m confident that people are going to be absolutely enthralled with this gym.” Kevin Christie, VP of Gold’s Gym Franchising, added, “Downtown Tampa is about to get stronger! We are thrilled to work with Kimberlee and her partners who have signed development rights to open multiple Gold’s Gym locations within the greater Tampa/St Pete/Sarasota market.”
A destination for fitness enthusiasts
The Gold’s Gym brand is a go-to destination for bodybuilders, fitness enthusiasts, and celebrities alike. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Phil Heath, and Jay Cutler have perfected their craft at Gold’s, and fitness influencers such as Gold’s Gym Global Brand Ambassador Simeon Panda continue that tradition now.
