New Orleans-based Fat Boy’s Pizza is targeting franchise expansion in Tampa. The company plans to open up to 10 locations within the Tampa market, according to a press release. This pizzeria is known for its gigantic slices. It’s a workout just hoisting up one of these savory, cheesy delicacies.
This restaurant has a challenge that will surely whet the appetite of competitive eaters in the city of Tampa. Eat an entire 2-foot slice of pizza in 7 minutes or less and receive a Fat Boy’s Pizza T-Shirt and a $20 gift card. If you beat the current record held by Joey Chestnut (39 seconds), you win $10.000. I think I’ll wave the white flag on this one.

Fat Boy’s Pizza boasts the World’s Biggest Slice and has become increasingly known for its whopping 30-inch pies, delectable appetizers, full bar and passionate community involvement. The concept was initially founded in 2019 by Gabe Corchiani, a businessman and restauranter who hoped to bring a family-friendly restaurant serving New York style pizza to his home state of Louisiana.
Fat Boys currently has six locations operating throughout Louisiana and Mississippi, with two locations opening in Houston next year and another five in development.
“We’re excited for Fat Boy’s Pizza to begin taking steps towards opening new locations through franchising and providing more communities with our delicious food and family friendly atmosphere,” Gabe Corchiani, CEO and founder, said in the press release. “Tampa is a large, diverse market that can easily accommodate at least ten locations that will allow our brand to build brand awareness, management, and supply chain efficiencies.”
Gabe Corchiani opened Fat Boy’s Pizza with wife, Karen, in 2019. Gabe was inspired to create massive pies and bring them to New Orleans. The first location blossomed on Metairie Road and quickly the love for the biggest slice began to spread all throughout the Gulf Coast area.
Official locations are still TBA. Follow Fat Boys on Facebook for updates on their Tampa expansion.
