One of Buffalo’s most iconic wing spots is heading south. Duff’s Famous Wings, a staple in Western New York, has announced plans to open in Tampa. While the exact location is still under wraps, excitement is already brewing. According to its Instagram, the new Duffs will be in Seminole Heights. Some commenters speculate it could take over the former Ella’s Americana Folk Art Cafe location at 5119 N Nebraska Ave.
Tampa’s wing scene is already a hot topic, with locals fiercely debating the best spots in town. Now, a legendary northern contender is ready to shake things up.

A wing tradition since 1946
Duff’s got its start in 1946 when Louise Duffney opened a small tavern in Amherst, New York. By 1969, the bar had added chicken wings to the menu, quickly earning a reputation for some of the best in Buffalo. As demand grew, the name “Duff’s Famous Wings” became official in 1985, cementing its status as a go-to spot for authentic Buffalo-style wings. Today, Duff’s remains a beloved institution, still serving wings from its original location in Amherst and sticking to its traditional recipe.
With Duff’s expansion into Tampa, wing lovers will soon get a taste of the Buffalo classic without booking a flight.
