Plant City’s World Famous Parkesdale Market is gearing up for the return of its beloved Strawberry Shortcake season, and it’s well worth the drive from Tampa. Starting January 2, the market will switch from its Summer Menu to the highly anticipated Shortcake Menu, signaling the start of a fresh season of locally grown strawberries, indulgent treats, and farm-fresh goodies.

Located at 3702 W Baker Street in Plant City, Parkesdale is famous for its signature strawberry shortcakes and milkshakes. These sweet, strawberry-packed treats draw visitors from across the region. But the market doesn’t just serve up desserts; it also offers a variety of locally grown strawberries, jams, preserves, citrus baskets, and more.

A long legacy of Flavor in Florida

Parkesdale has a long history in the community. In February 1969, Cheryl and Jim Meeks opened the small farm market that would eventually become Florida’s largest strawberry, citrus, and produce market. The market has steadily expanded but still provides high-quality, locally sourced produce.

In 2007, Cheryl and Jim’s son, Jim Meeks Jr., and his wife, Xiomara, joined the market to continue Roy’s legacy and keep the family tradition alive.

The strawberry experience in Plant City

Parkesdale is more than just a market; it’s an experience. From November to early spring, the market is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., giving visitors plenty of time to stop by and indulge in the sweet flavors of Florida. Whether you’re there for a quick treat or looking to take home fresh produce, you can expect a warm welcome and the highest quality fruits and products.

“We are absolutely obsessed with spoiling you with our highest-quality fruits and other goodies, which we produce right here in Florida,” the market’s website says. Savor the flavors of our premium fruits and produce, hand-picked from our small farm market and shipped nationwide for your convenience.”
