The Columbia is one of the most iconic restaurants in Florida. This Ybor City legend is famous for its paella, decor, customer service, and its Cuban sandwich. Now, The Columbia is being recognized for its excelsior brunch offerings. We already know Tampa is a brunch lover’s haven, so here’s why The Columbia is considered one of the best.
OpenTable’s 100 Most Popular Brunch Spots for 2023 is pulled from over 13 million diner reviews. This year, the list spans 22 states – with California representing the largest share on the list for the third year running. Next up is our own Florida with nine restaurants, and Pennsylvania at eight, both taking a larger share of the list than in years past.

Columbia Restaurant has earned thousands of 5-star reviews
The Columbia Restaurant in Ybor currently has over 14,000 reviews and it still hovers above a 4.5-star rating. Only the Columbia Cafe at Tampa International Airport is open for breakfast, and of course that puts it on a roster just named the best airport food in America, but you can still venture over to The Columbia in Ybor City during those later brunch hours for some of the best food in this state.
“Very much enjoyed our brunch. We were impressed by the beautiful facade and inside was also striking. Service was very good,” writes one reviewer, MHBSoDak. “The class of service is greater than the price of the food. I was pleasantly surprised by both the reasonable prices and quality. Dishes were well prepared and very tasty. Portions were large. Table side sangria is a must!” Yea, count us in for table side Sangria.
Another recent visitor, dahank, writes “the food was excellent (Spanish soup, devil crab cakes, Cuban sandwich and churros).” The 5-star review continues, “The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful. Our server, Jonathon, really made the meal fun. He was excellent. We felt lucky to have had an opportunity to meet him. We highly recommend Columbia if you are in the area!”
Make sure to get the table side sangria
Many of the 5-star reviews sing the praises of its famous 1905 salad, and I can’t locate a single top notch brunch account that doesn’t recommend table side sangria.
