Sweet Mama’s brings handcrafted ice cream and big flavors to downtown Tampa

Sweet Mama’s is a celebrated ice cream parlor that just recently debuted in its first permanent space at 905 N Tampa Street. The minority- and woman-owned business has earned a slew of 5-star reviews for its world class soft serve, friendly staff, and wide array of toppings. It’s nearly an endless summer here in the city of Tampa, so the time is always right for a few scoops of ice cream. For owner Akwi Njoh, this is a dream come true, and one that was helped to fruition with Tampa’s Downtown Partnership.

This is a joyous Tampa success story. Sweet Mamas began as a mobile ice cream shop in Tampa Heights, before moving to a temporary location at Gaslight Square Park. Big warm cookies, chocolatey brownies and thick milkshakes remain consistent crowd pleasers. You can load up a big ice castle with three layers of flavor, or indulge in a phenomenal cake cone.

Sweet Mama’s makes the best soft serve in Tampa

One 5-star review from Joshua Sheffield states that they “loved it so much I had to go back twice.” Sheffield continues, “the first time I had the cookie and ice cream, the second time I had a waffle cone. Both were amazing, the gentlemen that were working were respectful and helpful.”

Victoria Kauffman claims that Sweet Mama’s makes “some of the best soft serve ice cream you’ll ever have.” Her 5-star review also praised the staff and the value for the portions and quality of ice cream served. This is the kind of Tampa success story we love to see.
