5 hot new restaurants opening this fall in Tampa

Tampa has a bustling food scene, that continues to get better each and every year. Don’t believe, just check out the recent MICHELIN star restaurant recipients in the city. There are three restaurants set to open this fall season that we can’t wait to experience.

Kosen
307 W Palm Ave

Kōsen, a new omakase restaurant, will join the already impressive roster of restaurants in Tampa Heights this fall.

The restaurant will feature menu by renowned Chef Wei Chen. He comes from the Michelin starred restaurant Masa. The 18-course menu curated by Wei Chen will run $250, and will assuredly be worth every penny. Positioned underneath the Pearl at 307 W Palm Avenue, Kosen will privately host 10-seats at the sushi bar and 25 booth seats in the dining room.

In January, the owners of the restaurant, and the founders of the Bento empire, just received a huge accolade from the James Beard Foundation. Johnny and Jimmy Tung are nominated for Outstanding Restaurateur.

“We are incredibly humbled to be recognized next to these amazing pioneers in the industry. Without our hardworking team and supportive community, this would not be possible,” said the Tungs in a joint statement. The Kosen team wrote on Instagram, “Humbled is an understatement. What a very proud moment and career highlight for our co-founders.”

Yard House

Yard House is celebrated for its huge selection of beers on tap (more than 100), and extensive bar bites menu. According to its website the huge restaurant and taproom will open on October 9 in Tampa

The Water Street Yard House will be right across from Amalie Arena. Yard House’s menu includes tasty bites such as poke nachos, jumbo Bavarian pretzels, firecracker shrimp, and Baja fish tacos. 

“Every new retailer that has signed a lease at Water Street Tampa has helped us to create a more well rounded neighborhood that we know residents, office workers, and guests will look forward to experiencing  time and again,” said Lee Schaffler, Chief Portfolio Officer for SPP.

Kura Sushi

“The tech-based eatery signed for 2,734 square feet for 10 years, said Ripco Real Estate, which represented the tenant,” according to a press release. The restaurant has begun hiring for its new location. It’s set to open in late summer/early fall.

Kura offers a technology forward dining experience with authentic dishes made with premium ingredients served via a double-layered conveyor belt system. Feast with your eyes, and then grab what seems most appetizing to you. Since the first restaurant opening in 1977, Kura Sushi, Inc. has grown substantially with more than 500 locations across Japan, Taiwan and the United States.

Ro Hyde Park

Three Oaks Hospitality is expanding its footprint in the city with a new Modern Asian and Sushi Restaurant called Ro.

“We create spaces that cultivate our local neighborhoods – they aren’t just restaurants and bars – but rather gathering places that foster meaningful interactions and conversations,” writes the Three Oaks Hospitality ownership team. For the uninitiated, Three Oaks is behind some of the most acclaimed restaurants in Tampa.

Cinnaholic South Tampa
927 S Howard Avenue

Cinnaholic specializes in custom gourmet cinnamon rolls and homemade cookie dough, brownies, and cookies. They offer a unique experience with over 40 different frostings and toppings, so the cinnamon roll flavor possibilities are endless. For those with a major sweet tooth, Cinnaholic also serves up giant, customizable cinnacakes.

They’ve just begun hiring, and an official opening date for the fall should be announced soon.
