It’s no secret that Tampa is a city for food lovers. Award-winning restaurants, both new and old, garnish our city with eclectic flavor. It seems the secret is out now about our culinary scene’s prominence — if it ever was a secret to begin with.
Yelp recently released its list of the top 100 places to eat in 2017. “In our fourth annual list we are honoring eateries from across the US, nearly all of which have a perfect 5-star rating. You may notice that most of these businesses are pretty unassuming, offering guests a no-frills type of dining experience, and yet Yelpers go nuts for them,” wrote Shannon Eis, VP, Corporate Communications at Yelp.

A total of 96% of the restaurants listed received a perfect 5-star rating. A majority of the spots that made the cut also opened within the last two years — with many serving as true hidden gems in their respective communities. Three of the restaurants listed happen to be in Tampa.
Loli’s Mexican Cravings
The fast, casual restaurant Loli’s Mexican Cravings is the spot where taco lovers rejoice. Their homemade tortillas act as divine vessels for such creations as their Taco de Chicharon — black beans, chicharrón, avocado pico, fresh cheese and, if you like a spicy kick, serrano pepper. They also serve exceptional ribeye sopes and pork on red sauce tamales.
