ZooTampa’s David A. Straz, Jr. Manatee Critical Care Center is making waves once again, earning a spot in USA TODAY’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards for “Best Zoo Exhibit” in the country. This marks the third consecutive year the center has been nominated.

Since 1991, ZooTampa has treated over 600 sick, injured, and orphaned manatees, most of which have successfully returned to Florida’s waters. As one of only three U.S. facilities that can treat critically injured manatees—and one of only two equipped to care for orphaned calves—the center’s impact is profound.

The nomination comes after a careful selection process, with USA TODAY 10Best editors, travel experts, and industry professionals choosing the Manatee Critical Care Center along with 20 other exhibits at accredited zoos for its exceptional animal care, enrichment efforts, and ability to foster meaningful interactions between animals and guests.

Voting is open now through Monday, March 10, and each person can vote once per day per device. Let’s show our support for this extraordinary exhibit, which already holds a special place in our hearts.

Winners will be announced on Wednesday, March 19, at 12 p.m. EST.
