Winter Village returns to Curtis Hixon Park, complete with a skating rink

The Winter Village at Curtis Hixon Park returns on November 19, and it includes a local vendor market and an ice skating rink. Local businesses set up shop around the skating rink and a giant Christmas tree to celebrate the holiday season. It might be the dreamiest event in the city. 

Dates have just been released for Winter Village. The holiday extravaganza returns November 19, and will remain in Curtis Hixon Park through January 2, 2021.

Winter Village will now operate on a paperless ticket system.

For the safety and convenience of all guests, a limited number of visitors will be admitted to the ice rink every 30-minutes and each individual will be given 75-minutes to skate. All visits must be reserved in advance by purchasing a timed ticket(s) online. All visitors will receive a confirmation email with a safety waiver and a receipt.

The Choo Choo

New to Winter Village this year, the Curtis Hixon Park Choo Choo will be your child’s new favorite holiday activity! Climb aboard for a 10-minute ride through the park to enjoy the lights and sounds of Winter Village. This FREE adventure is first come, first serve with no advance reservations. The Curtis Hixon Park Choo Choo station is conveniently located at the top of Curtis Hixon Park near the corner of Ashley Dr. and Twiggs St.

Holiday Tales with Bob & Gretchen

Join Tampa this holiday season for Holiday Tales with Bob & Gretchen! You may remember these crazy snowbirds from the Winter Village Express the past two years and now they’re back to bring you some holiday fun! These FREE family shows will be in the heart of Winter Village, each Sunday starting November 22nd through December 20th. Showtimes are at 3:30pm, 4:30pm, and 5:30pm, and last approximately 20-minutes. PLEASE NOTE: Social distancing measures will be taken and seating will be limited.

Letters with Mrs. Claus

Write and mail your letter to Santa right here at Winter Village! Mrs. Claus will be on hand to help you write the perfect letter, pose for festive photos and to answer all of your questions about the “big man” himself. Can’t make it to see Mrs. Claus? Don’t worry, you can drop your letter off any time, but if you choose to write your own, don’t forget to include your address. Mrs. Claus will visit Winter Village November 27 and December 23rd from 4-6pm.

Santa Sighting

He’s making a list and checking it twice, but not before making a few surprise visits at Winter Village! Be sure to stay off the naughty list and stay tuned to the Winter Village on Facebook and Instagram for clues as to when you might be able to catch a glimpse of the man in red yourself. Bring your camera and prepare for a socially distanced Santa experience like no other.

Safety measures in place at Winter Village

Here’s a look at COVID-19 procedures:

The following measures are being implemented to keep our community safe from COVID-19.

– All guests entering the venue, and at all times during their visit, shall be required to wear a face mask or face covering, including while skating on the ice.
– The venue capacity has been reduced to allow for social distancing.
– Contactless, cashless ticketing, with a timed reservation.
– Guests are encouraged to practice social distancing on and off the ice rink.
– Benches for skaters will be arranged to allow for 6-feet of social distancing between groups.
– Hand sanitizer stands will be located throughout the venue for guest use.
– All primary touchpoints will be sprayed with disinfectant frequently.
– Disinfectant will be applied to each skate exterior and interior by a staff member at the skate rental counter upon the hand out of each and every ice skate rental.
