4th Annual Tampa River Fest (Friday and Saturday)

Head out to Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park this weekend to celebrate the Tampa River Fest. This event is free and open to all ages, but some festivities have an additional cost to participate. On Friday between 4-10pm, enjoy concert performances, beer tents, NHL Game 4 Watch Party at 7pm and a new addition – Taste of the Riverwalk – where individuals can purchase a wristband and enjoy food and drink samples from the restaurants and bars near the Tampa Riverwalk. On Saturday from 10am-10pm, enjoy a Wiener Dog Derby, a Cinco De Mayo Taco Tent, a Gasparilla stand-up paddle board invasion and more! Tampa Bay Fringe Festival (Until May 12)
The 2nd annual Tampa Fringe Festival is back! This 10-day performing arts festival includes an eclectic mix of theatre, comedy, musicals, magic shows and more, all at different venues throughout Tampa! Tampa Bay Rays vs. Ontario Blue Jays (All Weekend)
Watch the Tampa Bay Rays take on the Ontario Blue Jays at Tropicana Field in this three part series: May 4, 7:10 p.m.; May 5, 6:10 p.m. May 6, 1:10 p.m. Visit for tickets. Tropicana Field – 1 Tropicana Dr.

TC Carr & The Bolts of Blue at Water Works Park
TC Carr & The Bolts of Blue will be playing a mix of blues and rock jams from 7-9pm at Water Works park for Free Friday Concerts in the park. Visit for rest of the month’s schedule. Water Works Park – 1710 N. Highland Ave.

Marian Hill at The Orpheum
Check out singer-songwriter duo Marian Hill at The Orpheum. This electric, but sultry duo includes production artist Jeremy Lloyd and vocalist Samantha Gongol whose band name stems from two characters from the musical The Music Man. Doors open at 7pm and show starts at 8pm. General admission tickets start at $31.50. The Orpheum – 1915 E 7th Ave.

Saturday, May 5

2nd Annual Tampa Derby Gallop 

Celebrate the Kentucky Derby race in style from 1-7pm by participating in the 2nd annual Tampa Derby Gallop – one of the most exciting Derby events in Tampa Bay with an all-you-can-eat lunch, derby inspired bar games, a watch party and $5 Mint Juleps. All participants will be transported by party busses to three of the event destinations – American Social, Ferg’s Live and Platt Street Borough. Tickets start at $45 with the proceeds benefiting the Ronald McDonald House Charity of Tampa Bay. American Social – 601 S. Harbour Island Blvd 

Kentucky Derby Day at Tampa Bay Downs
Flaunt your oversized hats and place your bets for the Kentucky Derby at the Tampa Bay Downs while enjoying a simulcast of the race and drinking Mint Juleps. The celebration starts at 4pm and tickets range between $10-$25. Visit for more information. Tampa Bay Downs – 11225 Race Track Rd.

¡Cinco De Zydeco! at Zydeco Brew Works 
Head over to Zydeco for a Cinco De Mayo Party, starting at 11:30am with Hand crafted beer, Cajun cuisine, a Kentucky Derby Watch Party, Casa Noble Tequila Event  and other food and drink specials. Make sure to bring a sombrero or your big, floppy derby hat! Zydeco Brew Werks – 1907 E. 7th Ave.

Taco’s and Tequila Party & Social
Celebrate Cinco De Mayo at The RITZ Ybor with a social event and plenty of tacos, tequila and margaritas. This celebration runs from 7-10pm. Visit for tickets – starting at $10 – and other event details. The RITZ Ybor – 1503 E. 7th Ave

Lynyrd Skynyrd: Last of the Street Survivors Farewell Tour
Head out to the MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre at the FL State Fairgrounds for a 6pm concert with the remaining band memebrs of Lynyrd Skynyrd as they perform one last show together. Tickets start at $22. MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheater – 4802 US Highway 301 N.

Sunday, May 6

Tampa Bay Lightning Vs. Boston Bruins
Head out to Amalie Arena and watch as the Tampa Bay Lighting Play against the Boston Bruins for round 2, game 5 of the playoffs. Game starts at 3 pm. Get your tickets here. Amalie Arena – 401 Channelside Dr.
