WMNF Tropical Heatwave

Friday, April 1

Shakespeare in the Park at Waterworks Park: Richard III (Friday and Sunday) 
Tampa Shakespeare Festival is dedicated to bringing the works of William Shakespeare to Tampa communities in a fun and accessible way. They strive to create productions that are fast paced and enjoyable for the whole family. Tampa Shakespeare Festival’s productions are performed outdoors with minimal technical support in beautiful Waterworks Park. This Thursday and Sunday see Richard III. Performance begins at 6pm on Thursday, 2pm on Sunday. Waterworks Park, 1710 North Highland Avenue. 

Nick DiPaolo at Side Splitters Comedy Club (Friday and Saturday)
Respected standup comedian Nick DiPaolo will perform sets at Side Splitters Friday and Saturday night. Set at 8pm and 10:15pm both nights. Click HERE for tickets and info. Side Splitters, 12938 North Dale Mabry Highway

Knight of Cups at Tampa Theatre
Rick is a writer who undertakes a search for love and self. His quest takes him on a series of adventures with a variety of alluring women. Rick grapples over complicated relationships with his family. The journey becomes his destination as his latest relationship helps him see a way forward. Starring Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Natalie Portman, and Brian Dennehy. Screens at 7pm on Friday, 1:45pm, 4:30pm and 7:30pm on Saturday, 5:45pm on Sunday. Murder for Two at Straz Center (All Weekend)
Everyone is a suspect in Murder for Two a hilarious musical murder mystery with a twist: one actor investigates the crime, the other plays all of the suspects and they both play the piano! A zany blend of classic musical comedy and madcap mystery, this 90-minute whodunit is a highly theatrical duet loaded with killer laughs. The New York Times calls MURDER FOR TWO “an ingenious miniature musical in the form of a snazzy vaudevillian double act.” Click HERE for tickets and showtimes. Straz Center, 1010 North W.C. Mad Theatre presents [title of show] at Straz Center
This one-act musical follows two guys writing a musical about two guys writing a musical about two guys and their two actress friends from the initial creative period to opening on Broadway. GASP! Gasparilla Fringe Festival
Back for its third year, Gasp! will be a smorgasbord of music, dance, theater, improv, video, and more, presented live by both emerging and accomplished artists. Tampa Bay Storm vs Orlando Predators at Amalie Arena

Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto – The Florida Orchestra at Straz Center
In a pair of TFO debuts, conductor, Josep Caballé-Domenech, and violinist, Simone Porter, join the orchestra to perform Mendelssohn’s highly popular Violin Concerto. The program also includes Haydn’s Symphony No. 96, “The Miracle,” and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 9, which is punctuated with musical twists, turns, and surprises. Begins at 8pm. This premiere quartet will collaborate with UT pianist, Grigorios Zamparas, in a performance of Antonin Dvorak’s Quintet in A, op. 81 and other works. Don’t miss this stunning end to the concert season. Begins at 2pm. The University of Tampa, 401 West Kennedy Boulevard. 

Family Favorites Series at Tampa Theatre – Mrs. Doubtfire
Troubled that he has little access to his children, divorced dad, Daniel Hillard, hatches an elaborate plan. He disguises himself as a matronly British woman and convinces his ex-wife, Miranda, to hire him as a nanny. "Mrs. Doubtfire" wins over the children, but when Daniel and his nanny persona must be in the same place at the same time, his secret may be exposed. Starring Robin Williams and Sally Field.
