Birds of Chicago at Straz Center
Birds of Chicago’s brand of rock-and-roll poetry can be hard to categorize, but this duo undoubtedly boasts voices that anchor the music in a fractured country soul-croon wrapped in shining harmonies. At home on tour across North America and Europe, Birds of Chicago share their streamlined poetic songwriting, sharp hooks and joyful singing with audiences everywhere, hoping to connect their from-the-gut sound to listeners who love the thrill of great music. 7:30pm. $15-$29.50. Under the Willow with Fil Plate at Skipper's Smokehouse
In Under the Willow we find a band where socially conscious lyrics are blended with intricate compositions to evoke a brand of songwriting that borrows from bluegrass and folk music but is wholly unique. 7pm. $7 in advance, $10 at the door. Skipper's Smokehouse, 910 Skipper Road.

Disney's The Lion King – Musical at Straz Center (Through Feb. 14)

Cosi Fan Tutte Open Rehearsal at Straz Center (Through Thursday)
Opera aficionados and neophytes alike will enjoy a behind-the-scenes peek into a rehearsal with Maestro Daniel Lipton, observing the director and artists working on scenes from the upcoming opera production. Opera Tampa League Board Member Bob Simon will provide a short, informative overview of the opera before the rehearsal to enhance the enjoyment of the evening. This is a very popular event and seating is limited to 26 seats per rehearsal date. Appropriate for children age 12 and older. Takes place on Feb. 2, Feb. 4, Feb. 9 and Feb. 11 at 6:30pm. Reggae Night with Jahfari at Skipper's Smokehouse
Jahfari is an eclectic mix of musicians trained in the art of Jammin’! This five piece band plays a wide range of reggae genres from ska to rock steady, and roots reggae to dancehall. Coming from the far reaches of the globe this quintet brings international flavor to every show. Based out of the Tampa Bay area, Jahfari has toured extensively throughout the U.S. and The Caribbean. 8pm. FREE. Skipper's Smokehouse, 910 Skipper Road. 

Second Screen Cult Cinema – A Clockwork Orange at The Vault
Second Screen Cult Cinema – deemed Tampa Bay’s “Best Movie Series” – is officially one year old in February! They celebrate their first year of showing underseen and unforgettable films by screening Stanley Kubrick’s controversial, colorful, disturbing, and brilliant A Clockwork Orange (1971). The evening kicks off at 6pm with a cocktail hour, curated music, craft cocktails, and food available for purchase. The film starts at 7pm. Suggested donation of $5. Tampa Downtown Market

Grateful Dead Night with Uncle John's Band at Skipper's Smokehouse
Hippies please use side door… UJB has been faithfully bringing the music and spirit of the Grateful Dead to Skipper’s every Thursday at Skipper’s since 1998. Uncle John’s Band was formed in 1989 in Clearwater Florida from a combination of talented musicians who love to play the music of the Grateful Dead. The purpose of Uncle John’s Band is to recreate the atmosphere and musical adventure of a live Dead show. 8pm. FREE. Skipper's Smokehouse, 910 Skipper Road. 

Andrea Bocelli at Amalie Arena
This February, legendary tenor Andrea Bocelli will be returning to Florida for the sixth consecutive year to perform for Valentine’s Day. Bocelli, who now calls South Florida his second home, will treat fans to a unique holiday repertoire, combining the most beloved arias, crossover hits, special love songs and new music from his latest album, Cinema, all to celebrate the romance and magic of Valentine’s Day. 7:30pm. Sex Tips for Straight Women from a Gay Man at Straz Center (Through Feb. 14) 
This romantic comedy takes the audience on a hilarious and wild ride where no topic is taboo and the insider "tips" come straight from the source: a gay man. The play is set at a local university auditorium where the English department holds its monthly meet the authors event. Robyn is the shy and studious moderator of the event and this month's featured author is Dan Anderson of Sex Tips for Straight Women from a Gay Man. With the help of a hunky staged assistant named Stefan, Dan aims to turn this meet the authors event upside down with a highly theatrical, audience interactive sex tip seminar.
