Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux, a sports bar/restaurant concept co-owned by former New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees, will open as part of the massive Midtown Tampa development later in 2021.
Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux is making it’s mark with it’s newest location opening soon in Midtown Tampa. The team behind the Midtown Development made the announcement this month on Instagram.
Founded by Drew Brees, Walk-On’s will become the perfect place to catch a game, enjoy craveable New Orleans delights, and hang with friends any time.
“There’s really no better way to describe the uniqueness of Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux. We start every dish from scratch and use fresh ingredients to bring our mouthwatering, Cajun cuisine to life,” write the owners in the restaurant’s mission statement. “And whether you’re here for dinner with the family, date night, cocktails with the girls or to watch a game on the big screen, we’re always happy to share our Louisiana culture with you.”
The concept, which began with one location back in 2003, was named the best sports bar in America by ESPN back in 2012. Walk-On’s was named the No. 1 brand in Entrepreneur’s prestigious 2020 Top New Franchises Ranking. The ranking was based on a list of the top 100 companies submitted for Entrepreneur’s 2019 Franchise 500® ranking that began franchising in the last five years.
The chef-driven concept serves up cajundillas, lemon butter chicken, VooDoo shrimp and grits, fried catfish, super stuffed burgers, fried spicy pork and rice balls, and boom boom shrimp, among other signature items. Vegan/vegetarian options are also available on the menu.
An official opening timeline at Midtown Tampa is still TBA.
Midtown is quickly evolving into a key food and drink destination in the Tampa Bay region. The popular Hall on Franklin will close its Franklin Street location to focus on the emergence of its large space at Midtown.
“The Hall on Franklin is moving to Midtown Tampa where we will be able to share our next-generation experience with you,” reads an Instagram post from the food hall. “It will include outdoor seating, private dining, and enhanced service.”
This debut is in addition to the popular food hall’s expansion to Orlando and St. Pete
Linking Westshore to Downtown, the 22-acre Midtown Tampa project is centrally located and within minutes of many Tampa favorites, such as Raymond James Stadium, Amalie Arena, International Plaza, Westshore Plaza, University of Tampa and Hyde Park Village, as well as the Tampa International Airport and Tampa Convention Center.
An authentic and new kind of urban experience, Midtown includes nearly 2 million square feet of retail space, residential living space, and office buildings, with ample parking and intuitive walkability. A social hub for entertainment and hospitality, Midtown also features the central green space of Midtown Commons, the 3-acre Midtown Lake, and the Watercourse recreational trail. The dual-branded Aloft and Element property will feature 226 rooms and is expected to open January 2021.
So far, Midtown has announced a new restaurant by chef Chris Ponte, who is a local favorite, as well as Shake Shack, BellaBrava New World Trattoria, Burtons Grill & Bar, True Food Kitchen and Joffrey’s Coffee Tea Café.
