It’s Labor Day Weekend, y’all! There are a ton of events happening in and around the city, so assuming Dorian leaves us alone, here are the 8 events you can’t miss in Tampa this Labor Day Weekend.

Friday, August 30

The Hub 70th Anniversary Party

Celebrate The Hub’s 70th Birthday. The bar was originally located just a few blocks away from its current Franklin Street location. It’s famous for its top shelf liquors, live music, and the fact that it also serves as a package store. Tribal Style, Johnny Mile and Kilometer to perform live. Begins at 9:30pm. REWIND: Enter The Dragon at Tampa Theatre

Summer of Rum Festival at Julian B Lane Riverfront Park

Yes, we know this is in Tampa, but it’s worth the trip. This event features a wide variety of different rum vendors with speciality cocktails. Sublime is set to perform live, too. The Smiths, Talking Heads, Elvis Costello: the WMNF Tribute at Skipper’s Smokehouse

Three fantastic tribute shows in one evening at Skipper’s Smokehouse. Ordinary Boys, Row Jomah, and Talked to Mark will all perform tributes. Music begins at 7pm. Tickets are $15. Skipper’s Smokehouse, 910 Skipper Road.

Summer Classics: Casablanca at Tampa Theatre

Frankly, Tampa, we give a damn if you go to this screening. Tampa Theatre is putting the film Casablanca back on the big screen this Saturday. Screenings take place at 3pm on Saturday and Sunday. Click here for tickets. Tampa Theatre, 711 North Franklin Street.

Yoga Warm Up and Paddle Board Class with Urban Kai at Armature Works

Stretch those sea legs and find your zen on a paddle board on the Hillsborough River. Urban Kai just opened outside of Armature Works in The Heights. This class is a wonderful introduction to yoga on a paddle-board. They start with 30 minutes of yoga on our lawn and then transition into a fun 60 minute paddle-board session. 9:30am-11:30am. $40.00; $15 BYOB (bring your own board, for this option call 813-598-1634). Grass is Grunge: Bluegrass Cover the 90’s Between Bluffs at The Independent Bar

What happens when a moonshine sipping heck raising Bluegrass band covers flannel wearing 90’s iconic music? Grass Is Grunge! 6:30-9pm. The Independent, 5016 North Florida Avenue.
