It’s almost time for RiverFest in the city of Tampa and we couldn’t be more excited. It gets bigger and better every single year. The 5th Annual event is coming back with a fabulous fury featuring events for dog lovers, taco enthusiasts and margarita mavens.
We don’t want you to miss a darn thing, so we’ve compiled a quick list of all the events happening on May 3 and 4. Schedule your weekend plans accordingly, Tampa.

Taste of the Riverwalk
The signature event of Riverfest kicks off on Friday, May 3 at Curtis Hixon Park. A free concert series with beer trucks will begin at 4pm. The official foodie event kicks off at 6pm with a deluge of local flavors to sink your teeth into.
Confirmed restaurants include: Yacht StarShip, Boat Run Oyster Bar, Riverwalk Cafe at the Tampa Museum of Art, Splitsville Southern + Social and Harpoon Harry’s Crab House. More restaurants are set to be announced shortly.
The samples aren’t free here, though. You’ll need to purchase a wristband, which run at 3 samples for $10, or 5 samples for $15.
Gasparilla SUP Invasion
The stand up paddle board invasion is celebrating its 5th anniversary. The invasion runs from 7am-2pm on Saturday, May 4.
Team up with co-workers, friends and family for a day of SUP, Kayak, OC and Surfski Paddle Races. Plus a 5k division and a NEW 10 mile race.
The races take place along the urban waterways of downtown Tampa and extend along beautiful Bayshore Boulevard. Registration costs run from $50-$120 depending on what race you sign up for.
All races launch from Water Works Park, which is located at 1710 North Highland Avenue.

Tacofest at Curtis Hixon Park
Saturday, May 4 is all about the tacos. From 10am-8pm the top taco purveyors in Tampa Bay will be feeding Tampa ahead of Cinco De Mayo. Have a serious taco craze? There will be a taco eating contest during event to put your appetite to the test.
Taco wrist bands will be sold at 3 tacos for $10 and 5 tacos for $15.

Wiener Dog Derby
That’s right, adorable little wiener dogs running at Curtis Hixon Park. The derby takes place on May 4 and begins at 10am at Curtis Hixon Park. This is suspected to be the largest Dachshund gathering in the state of Florida.
Events planned for the day are the Best Nose, the Speed Trap, the Costume Contest, the Kissing Contest, the Best Tail contest and, of course, Dachshund Racing. Wiener dogs from the age of 4 months to 18 years old will race in many age categories.

Free activities at Riverfest
Of course, there will be plenty of free activities to enjoy as well. Hillsborough School kids will perform live along with several local bands throughout the weekend. Visitors can also count on a full margarita bar, beer bars and more.
