Tampa’s old school dive bar, The Hub, celebrates 70 years

EDITOR’S NOTE: The original headline read, “celebrates 70 years on Franklin Street.” This has since been updated. The first Hub was originally located down the block from the current Franklin Street location.

Cheers to 70 years, Hub. That’s right, the Franklin Street dive bar right around the corner from the Tampa Theatre is celebrating a milestone in 2019. Some argue that it’s the best dive bar in the entire city. We won’t choose a side, but we are obsessed with the neon sign.

The 70th anniversary celebration will feature 4 days of live music, food, drink specials and giveaways. It kicks off on Thursday, August 29 with performances by Flat Stanley and Crash Mitchell.

Saturday, August 31 will see Urbane Cowboys, The Former Contenders, and The Holy Terror all perform live.

You can find the full show rundown on the Facebook event page.

The Hub first opened as a piano bar back in 1949. It’s grown to become one of the most frequented spots for a good drink and live entertainment.
