Tampa Treasures: Ciro’s, the prohibition era bar on Bayshore Boulevard

Glowing light bulb cocktail at Ciro's

Love classic cocktails? Love a modern, instagrammable flair? Then you probably love Ciro’s. If you haven’t visited yet, its prohibition era-inspired menu is calling your name. Of course, to answer you’ll need the password.

The drinks here are true to the era that inspired so much of its decor. So yea, you’re going to get a good pic when you visit. Maybe even a solid clip of their glowing light bulb cocktail glasses.

True to its theme, Ciro’s also asks guests to save the board shorts and flip flops for a dive. The bar recommends “fellas wear collared shirts and the dames show off their ritzy threads,” according their Facebook description.

Oh, and don’t forget to knock and speak easy.

Want the password? You’ll have to call the Bayshore Boulevard bar in advance.

More than just a spot to sip refined cocktails, Ciro’s also offers up an impressive menu. The burger pocket trio is a savory revelation that you can split or devour all on your own.

The maple leaf duck poutine is addictive. If you’re from the Northeast, think of those classic diner disco fries smothered in gravy and cheese, but with a refined twist (and a fried egg).

One summer cocktail that transfixed our taste buds was the Umami Juice. The cocktail features Waterloo Gin, Midori, Clement Mahina Coconut, Ancho Verde, Lime Cordial, Cilantro, Bitter Truth Celery Bitters and Egg White. The bright green hue it takes on almost makes it too pretty to drink.

Ciro’s is located at 2109 Bayshore Boulevard. Follow them on Facebook and Instagram for updates on drink and food specials. Visit Ciro’s website for full details.
