Tampa is a top city for cheap eats, and brunch in America, according to a new study

A new study from Yelp and Skyscanner examined which major American Cities are home to the best restaurants and cuisines. Tampa has the most highly rated (246) and affordable restaurants (194) per 100,000 residents. Skyscanner collected Yelp data from nearly 50,000 restaurants in the 50 most populous American cities to see which cuisines each city does best. 

Tampa was the city with the most highly rated and cheapest restaurants per 100,000 residents. It boasts tons of great eateries with reasonable pricing, making it a top destination to eat tasty food on a budget. 

The proliferation of top tier brunch restaurants put Tampa at number 2 for best brunch city in America. Its no wonder why since we have Oxford Exchange, which was named one of the top 10 brunch restaurants in the country.

Tampa is a foodies’ paradise

Here’s how Skyscanner describes its methodology: “We collected data from Yelp about 47,526 restaurants in the top 50 most populous cities in the U.S. to see each city’s most common cuisine type. Ratings and prices were other variables included in our study. Data was collected in July 2022.”

Tampa also topped out the list at number 1 for the amount of high-rated restaurants. The servers and restaurateurs here in Tampa just know how to make customers happy. This follows Tampa’s recent recognition as one of the top foodie cities in America.

The MICHELIN Guide awarded several Tampa restaurants the Bib Gourmand Award, and a new restaurant within the Tampa EDITION will be helmed by a MICHELIN-starred chef. A recent analysis from WalletHub placed Tampa as the 8th best foodie city in the country. 

WalletHub compared more than 180 US cities with 29 key foodie-friendly factors. Food festivals, access to affordable groceries, abundance of farmers markets, availability of high-end restaurants and fast casual joints all played a factor in the rankings.
