Great news for Tampa commuters and visitors—the TECO Line Streetcar will remain fare-free for another year. The Tampa Bay Business Journal first reported that the Tampa Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Board approved $700,000 in funding to keep the streetcar free through fiscal year 2025.
In a 6-1 vote on Thursday, the CRA Board secured the necessary funding from its Community Advisory Committees (CACs): the Ybor City CRA contributed $234,000, while the Channel District CRA and Downtown CRA each allocated $233,000. Councilman Charlie Miranda cast the lone dissenting vote.

The Streetcar shatters ridership records
The TECO Line Streetcar provides a vital transit connection between downtown Tampa and historic Ybor City, and ridership continues to soar as major events hit the area. This popular transit system also operates the state’s only open-air trolley, known as The Breezer.
