The Tampa Streetcar is a free public transit service that offers connections from downtown Tampa to historic Ybor City. In April, Hillsborough Area Regional Transit operators revealed the streetcar had a ridership of 109,643. The TECO Line Streetcar is on track for over 1.3 million trips this year.

This system utilizes the only open-air trolley in the state of Florida. We get excited any time we see The Breezer rolling around Historic Ybor City. For curious visitors, operation of the Breezer is a bit random. It’s use is based on weather and staff availability as it takes two motorpersons to operate the vehicle.

The TECO Line Streetcar smashed the all-time annual ridership record in FY2023 (October 1, 2022 – September 30, 2023) with 1,315,103 passenger trips. It was the highest annual ridership in over 20 years of TECO Line Streetcar service, according to a release from Hillsborough Area Regional Transit.

The TECO Line Streetcar is a partnership between HART, the City of Tampa, and Tampa Historic Streetcar, Inc. This service has been a part of Tampa for approximately 22 years. The official anniversary will be in October 2024.
