Tampa is one of the most beautiful places to live in the world in my opinion. When it comes to cities in the South, Southern Living Magazine seems to agree. The magazine recently listed the 10 best neighborhoods in the entire South, and Davis Islands made the cut.
What factors contributed to the rankings?

Walkability, density of locally-owned businesses, aesthetics/scenery, preservation efforts, and distinctive histories all played a roll in crafting the rankings. Here’s what Southern Living wrote about Davis Island:
“Developer D. P. Davis dreamed of creating a posh and lucrative resort community when he dredged mud from Tampa Bay to expand two natural islands with views of the city in the 1920s. Alas, the Florida land bust ended his plans (and Davis mysteriously disappeared at sea, owing a heap of cash), but the architecturally eclectic historic homes here, along with a collection of shops, restaurants, and bars make Davis Islands one of Tampa’s most desirable neighborhoods.”

The views from the Davis Islands are absolutely surreal. Davis Island is also home to a dog-friendly beach, a gorgeous Yacht Club, and some of the most celebrated restaurants in Tampa like Oggi Italian, and Grecian Island Restaurant.
The neighborhood is also home to the Peter O Knight Airport, which offers Flight School and aerial tours of Tampa.
