Sunset Music Fest has just announced the first wave of performers set to take over Raymond James Stadium May 27 and 28 (Memorial Day Weekend) this year. Promoted performers so far include AC Slater, Chris Lake, DJ Susan, Wuki, and Zomboy. Tickets for the festival go on sale January 9 and can be purchased in advance online.
The 2021 festival was a major financial boon for the city. Yahoo Finance reported then that the festival likely generated more than 9,000 hotel stays in Tampa, “yielding what the festival said was about $16 million in direct economic impact.” That figure grows to $32 million when factoring in indirect impact, Yahoo Finance reports, which includes business-to-business and ripple-effect spending. The report asserts that more than 20,000 out-of-town guests came to town, according to a ZIP code sales report.
Sunset Music Fest 2022 was equally successful, and the next iteration of the celebration should be a major victory for Tampa hotels, bars, and restaurants.
The electronic dance music extravaganza is in its 11th year and has transformed from a smaller gathering at Vinoy Park in 2006, to one of the most anticipated and revelatory multi-day happenings in the state of Florida.
