Tampa’s grocery game continues to expand. Publix will open soon in the Channel District and now Tampa Heights, the district bursting with a new food hall, residences and a soon-to-open paddle board shop, could add the popular Sprouts Farmers Market to its roster.
We were first alerted to the news courtesy of a post by URBN Tampa Bay on Facebook, which showed a proposal from SoHo Capital at “the block bound by Oak, Tampa, 7th Avenue, and Highland Avenue.”

The developer revised its original plans, according to a report by the Tampa Bay Business Journal. New plans call for 273 new apartments, 153 hotel rooms, 8,664 square feet of retail and 1,433 parking spaces.
Take Sprouts inclusion in the plans with a grain of salt. It’s not a done deal until the developer signs an agreement with the grocer. Sprouts’ banner could just be an indicator that negotiations are underway.
