The two were inspired to start My Bat Flip after noticing a lack of true hands-on facilities available to baseball enthusiasts. Purchasing online made it hard to judge the equipment you would later take to the field and sporting good stores didn't provide enough true field experience with the equipment in action.

The company originally started as a pop-up shop outside the dug outs on game-days. They partnered with name-brands to give players a chance to test bats and gloves in action. Tampa already serves as the training ground for some of the MLB's top teams, and features on the premiere teams in college baseball, the University of Tampa Spartans. The school has produced 71 MLB draft selections and 7 NCAA National Championships, so it shouldn't have too hard a time finding its place in the city.
