Shell Key named one of the “best secret beaches” in the US

Shell Key is stunning. I once took an Island Ferry Cruise to the beach and enjoyed an afternoon wandering the gorgeous landscape. The route to the island was filled with leaping dolphins, gorgeous water crystalline views, and a refreshing sea breeze. The amalgamtion of shells that seem to double as works of art also help give the aptly named island its charm.

Familydestinationguide.com surveyed 3,000 adults in the United States across ages, genders, and geography. It’s no surprise to see Florida so well represented on the list.

Visitors can enjoy swimming, sunbathing, or simply strolling along the shore, taking in the breathtaking scenery and listening to the sound of the waves. The beach is also a nesting ground for sea turtles, making it an important conservation area.

Shell Key Preserve is an 1,800-acre preserve located on Shell Key in Tierra Verde, Pinellas County. The preserve protects sensitive marine habitats and includes one of the county’s largest undeveloped barrier islands as well as numerous mangrove islands and expansive sea grass beds.
