SharkCon returns to Florida State Fairgrounds this July with a screening of Jaws 3D

SharkCon comes back bigger and better in 2023 with the stars of the shark world, celebrities, photographers and more. This is a two day celebration of the wonderful creatures and it takes place at the Florida State Fairgrounds. You can attend SharkCon July 15 and 16, and tickets are on sale now.

What is the SharkCon experience? Attendees will dive deep into the world’s oceans. Everyone is connected to the ocean, but there are so many more secrets to learn about its amazing inhabitants. SharkCon is an event suitable for the casual consumer of shark lore, to the most intense aficionado of shark science. If it’s about sharks, it’s at SharkCon.

SharkCon has invited groups in the local community, such as Tampa Bay Watch and Florida Fish and Wildlife, as well as global organizations, such as National Geographic and OCEARCH. There are numerous free activities for families to enjoy.

Watch Jaws 3 in 3D with the cast (Lea Thompson, Louis Gossett Jr.)! Red and Blue 3D glasses provided. There will be a Q&A session with the cast of Jaws 3D, followed by a viewing of the film presented in 3D. The show will be at 6pm on July 15 at the Expo Hall at the Florida Faigrounds. 

Dr. Dituri or “Dr Deep Sea” is one of the featured speakers at the event. Dituri is president of the Undersea Oxygen Clinic, Dr. Dituri has his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering. As a Director of the International Board of Undersea Medicine and in partnership with the Marine Resources Development Foundation Marine Lab, Dr. Dituri is embarking on a 100-day adventure in the Jule’s Undersea Lodge in Key Largo, FL.

Other key speakers include  Kelli Cadena, Husbandry and Displays Curator at SEA LIFE Orlando, Dr. Tracy Fanara, Hap Fatzinger, Director at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher,  and Dr. Mike Heithaus, dean of the College of Arts, Sciences & Education (CASE) and Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Florida International University.
