First Tee of Tampa Bay, and the Tampa Sports Authority are working together to bring a par 3, 9-hole short course to the city of Tampa. The beginner-friendly links will be a part of Rogers Park in Tampa. This endeavor represents an ongoing relationship between The Tampa Sports Authority, First Tee Tampa Bay, and the Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA.
This new par-3 golf course was designed by Steve Smyers, and will be built by ABM Industries through the fall of this year. The new course will be utilized for those participating in First Tee – Tampa Bay, and will also be open to the public for a small admission cost, though an official price hasn’t been set. None of the holes should stretch longer than 120 yards, so you may only need a few clubs to successfully navigate the each hole. Catch me out there with a 7 Iron and a putter.
Officially formed in 1999, First Tee – Tampa Bay now provides more than 70,000 children each year with hands-on, interactive golf experiences along with introducing them to The First Tee’s Nine Core Values. In 2021, First Tee – Tampa Bay was the top chapter in First Tee network in the number of certifying participants (10,790 children) and in the top 10 percent in the number of outreach participants (61,550 children.) Besides being a program branch of the Tampa YMCA, First Tee – Tampa Bay also partners with community members such as the Tampa Sports Authority, and the City of Tampa.
