A new halal chicken shop, The Red Bird, will soon open in Temple Terrace at 11301 N 56th Street, Suite 6. It joins popular local spots like Roasted 813—one of the top candy shops in the city—and Qamaria Yemeni Coffee Co. in the Terrace Oaks Plaza.

What makes The Red Bird stand out? According to its website, the restaurant uses only 100% halal-certified chicken tenders marinated in its (almost) world-famous Red’s Chicken Rub. The chicken is then coated in homemade breading and fried in all-natural oil, giving it a unique, crispy texture. A final sprinkle of Red’s secret “Red Rub” completes the dish, creating a bold and flavorful ASMR crunch.

Guests can choose from six spice levels, ranging from Mild to FKU CRA!, offering a fiery kick for those seeking extreme heat. Sandwiches are served on soft 3” potato rolls, paired with house-made cilantro slaw and pickles, and topped with Red’s Famous Big Bird Sauce.

The restaurant’s commitment to using clean cooking oil, a 24-hour marinade, and its secret blend of wet and dry seasoning sets it apart from other hot chicken spots.

If you’re in the area next month, Terrace Oaks Plaza is hosting a special Suhoor celebration. The event will feature food, music, art, and more, every Friday and Saturday from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. through March. For more details, check out the plaza’s Instagram page here.
