Planes and Trains: TPA Lands 11 New Routes and an Artsy SkyConnect

It seems we need to reiterate this sentiment again: Tampa International Airport is killing it in the aviation game. TPA is an award-winning, internationally acclaimed airport replete with top tier food and retail spots, lauded customer service, and a slew of events to activate local residents and arriving passengers.

Multi-million dollar renovations take shape at TPA

12 new SkyConnect train cars arrived at Port Tampa Bay in mid-July and are now on the airport’s guideway. The trains cars are tattooed with images of egrets and other birds that inhabit the Tampa Bay area. SkyConnect will rapidly take passengers between the main terminal, the economy garage and a new state-of-the-art rental car center.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America, Inc., which is providing the automated train system, calls the exterior design one of the most unique in the world. The interior of the cars include educational information about the birds.

In addition to the fast completion of TPA’s multi-million dollar renovations, Frontier Airlines announced 11 new routes from Tampa to premier cities throughout the country.
